The company was founded in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company. It wasn't until 1945, after the Second World War, during which production was halted to support the war effort, that the company changed its name to Jaguar and resumed car production. The company was then taken over by the American giant Ford in 1989.
With over 75 years of history and experience, Jaguar is today a legendary manufacturer combining English luxury and sportiness.
Since the 2000s, Jaguar has been targeting a wider clientele, adopting more fuel-efficient engines, notably diesel versions, for less elitist models.
Its first electric car was unveiled in 2016 and launched in 2018: the Jaguar i-Pace.

How much does an electric Jaguar cost?
The Jaguar I Pace first appeared in November 2016 at a car show in Los Angeles, and is the British brand's first electric vehicle. It went on sale in 2018, with a small evolution appearing in 2023. Prices for the Jaguar I Pace start from €93,100 for the R-Dynamic SE version, rising to €101,200 in R-Dynamic HSE trim.
What's next for electric Jaguars?
For the moment, Jaguar is only presenting the Jaguar i Pace in its electric range. However, the British brand has set itself the year 2025, by which time its entire fleet will be electrified.
Marketing of the combustion-powered Jaguar XJ was discontinued last year. The idea of a revival of this model in an electric version was still on the drawing board for late 2021. But just as the project was nearing completion, the Jaguar XJ never saw the light of day.
So far, no electric cars from Jaguar have been presented.
