In January 2014, Bluecub, an electric car-sharing network in Bordeaux, had been launched for short journeys. But in 2020, due to the Covid-19 health crisis and low profitability of the service, Bluecub had to halt its activity. To cope with the explosion in demand, the Breton group Autopuz, which specializes in the sale of electric cars, decided to buy 220 charging stations from the Bluecub network. In fact, according to Bordeaux town hall, 65 of the former network's electric charging stations have already been integrated since March 2021.

Charging stations in Bordeaux: expanding the network of charging stations
The Bordeaux metropolitan area currently has :
- 318 spaces equipped with charging stations in public parking lots managed by Metpark.
- 17 fast-charging stations (64 charging points),
- 1 accelerated charging station (2 charging points)
- 67 slow-charge stations (174 charge points)
Despite the availability of charging stations, there are still only a limited number available for all EV (electric vehicle) drivers to recharge their vehicles.
The installation of charging stations in France continues to be a subject on which the government is looking for solutions, to keep pace with the growth in sales of electric cars.

At present, electric vehicles are still in full expansion, but many users have difficulty finding charging stations: either because there are no more spaces available, or because the charging is not adapted to their vehicle.

Safety

To be able to charge your electric vehicle, the Bordeaux Métropole charging network was accessible free of charge, but since November 2, 2021, this network has become chargeable throughout the territory. This has been decided with the aim of improving electrical infrastructures and ensuring a good rotation of electric cars.
To access these dedicated spaces, each rate is determined by the type of station (slow, fast or accelerated). What's more, these different rates become progressive after 3 hours, and applicable to all 3 types of session.
Here are the rates according to the type of station:

Whether for hotels or restaurants, customers need comfort, tranquility and convenience. Your current and future customers may well include electric car users. There are several reasons why you need to install electric charging stations for them:
- Time-saving: charging stations at the hotel make it easy for your guests to access the charging stations.

If your company is eligible, you may qualify for a subsidy. This subsidy can only be applied on condition that your employees benefit from this offer during their working hours.
Please note: to obtain this local subsidy, your company must meet the conditions of the national program ADVENIR :
- For private parking lots, for truck fleets: a 50% aid rate and a fixed amount between €2,200 and €960,000 excluding VAT,
- For private parking lots open to the public: an aid rate of 30% and a fixed amount between €1,000 and €2,700 excluding VAT,
- For parking lots open to the public (intermediate target): an aid rate of 30% and an amount of €1,000 before tax,
- For company fleets and employees of short-term rental vehicles: a rate of assistance of 20% and a fixed amount of €600 excluding VAT.
IMPORTANT: these bonuses for recharging points open to the general public in private parking lots and for intermediate targets (hotels, restaurants and shops), will be withdrawn from the ADVENIR program on August 1, 2023.
Good to know: the Advenir program is opening up a new area of support for automotive service professionals, through a partnership with Mobilians, an employers' organization. These bonuses are €750 for employees and fleets. For installations in private parking lots open to the public, the amounts vary from €1,700 to €15,000, depending on the charging capacity. If you're a private individual looking to install a charging station, you've come to the right place!
- ADVENIR program: this program also applies to you, if you live in a group home. This means that all residents of collective housing can have access to charging stations.
Depending on the type of use (individual or collective), the amount of the premium per charging point may vary:
- For individual use: 50% aid rate, with a ceiling of €960 (excl. VAT) per recharging point,
- For shared use: 50% aid rate, with a ceiling of €1,660 (excl. VAT) per recharging point,
- For collective infrastructure in condominiums: 50% aid rate to cover infrastructure costs and a ceiling of €3,000 (excl. VAT) per recharging point for outdoor roadwork.
- MaPrimeRénov' Whether you own your own home, rent a home or live in free accommodation, you can also benefit from a tax credit if the installation of charging stations in a primary or secondary residence. The scheme is designed to reduce installation costs, regardless of income.
The amount of the tax credit for the installation of an electric vehicle charging station is :
- 500 per charging system for a connected terminal
- 300 € per charging system for a non-connected terminal, with or without load shedding
Good to know: the tax credit for installing a home charging station has been extended until December 31, 2025. What's more, as of August 1, 2022, eligibility conditions for individual charging points in collective residences have changed. From now on, only single-phase T2S charging points are eligible for the ADVENIR program.
